Chapter 434
The bar owner explained, "Sir, you're at a bar. One of our patrons has had one too many and is out of it. I noticed your name was the first on his contacts. You two must be close. Could you come and get him?"
On the other end, the elderly Will was taken aback, muttering to himself, "He put my contact as his first?"novelbin
Will used to be the life of the party, with countless friends, women, and business folks calling him every day. Even when he wanted to call his famous grandson, he had to pick the right moment.
Have those bustling, lively days become a thing of the past?
Will, sharp as ever, seemed to sense that the world outside had changed dramatically. He propped himself up, calling out to his lifelong butler, "John."
John's hair had turned white but his spirit was still strong. He came promptly, "Sir, what do you need?"
Will's face, small and lined with wrinkles that shifted as he spoke, looked like a marionette in motion. "I need to know what exactly happened with the Dawson family."
John, with a grave expression, replied, "Sir, I just saw on today's news that Mr. Griffin and his son Cameron have had a falling out."
Will was shocked. "A falling out? Over what?"
John hesitated. "I heard that Mr. Griffin forced his wife to divorce to marry someone else. In her despair, she drowned herself. Later, Mr. Dawson even scattered her ashes in front of Cameron. This provoked Cameron to take revenge on Dawson International. The company is now on the brink of bankruptcy, far from its former glory."
Will, having weathered many storms in his life, stayed calm despite the turmoil in his heart. With regret, he said, "I spoiled him."
Will closed his eyes, tears escaping his dry eyes.
When he opened them again, as if having made a hard decision, he said firmly, "John, tell him about the mistress. Better he knows than be kept in the dark."
John paused for a long moment. Finally, he sighed heavily, "Yes."
When the former butler showed up at Dawson Estate, the place buzzed with excitement.
After all, Butler John and Will had turned Dawson International from shaky to a leading industry giant in the Capital. Their prowess was undeniable. So, John's arrival
seemed to the Dawson family like a
beacon of hope for revival.
Griffin, tears streaming down his face, felt like a kid again. Whenever he messed up, this kind old man would always fix things.
He rushed forward, crying, "John, you finally came to see us!"
Looking at Griffin, who was once young and handsome but now had graying hair and aged features, John sighed, "It's only been seven or eight years, and you've aged so much?"
Griffin wiped his tears, starting to complain, "You don't know, I've raised an ungrateful son. He squandered everything. I've let you and Dad down..."
Butler John didn't join in his complaints but simply looked at Griffin quietly.
Griffin seemed puzzled by his calmness. He grew anxious. "John, you've come on Dad's orders to save Dawson International, right?"
