Flora’s Guide to a Second Chance at Love and Life

Chapter 1219

Brandon's eyes nearly popped out of his head in shock. "Kenneth, what on earth are you saying?"

He was Sydney's fiancé, after all! And they were family, even if only distantly related. They called him over to help, not to turn against his own kin. Ava was equally stunned, her face going pale as she tried to wrap her mind around Kenneth's sudden betrayal. "Kenneth, how could you..." Zavier's face turned ashen, a suspicion forming in his mind that he was too afraid to voice.

Kenneth didn't bother answering. He just barked out, "Take him!"

"No, let me go! Let go!" Brandon shrieked, panic completely overtaking him. The last thing he wanted was another run-in with the Enforcement Division. It was like staring death in the face, so he decided to take his chances and fight.

Brandon summoned all his strength, delivering a forceful blow to his captor, then attempted to make a quick escape, relying on his agility. But the Foundation had its methods for keeping powerful families in check for years. A net was thrown over him, as inescapable as fate itself. The moment Brandon touched it, his strength vanished, and with a scream, he crashed to the ground. Ava, already frail, fainted from the shock.

Zavier caught her, watching helplessly as the Enforcement Division hauled Brandon away, his hand clenching into a tight fist at his side.

...

Kenneth, after taking Brandon back to the Enforcement Division, made his way to Jonathan's office first.

He knocked and stepped in, noticing Jonathan on a call, so he waited patiently. Once Jonathan finished, Kenneth said, "Commander, I've got him."

Jonathan, with his dark, intimidating demeanor, was not someone you wanted to mess with. He was especially scary when he wasn't smiling.

"Go take your punishment. I made you the captain of the ninth unit to serve the Enforcement Division with dedication. If this happens again, you're out."

Thankfully, he had caught Kenneth's contact with Sydney early on, before any real damage could be done. If he hadn't stopped Kenneth from going after the Gilbert family or causing trouble for Flora, there would've been no saving him.

Kenneth felt a drop of sweat trickle down his forehead, his back tensed. "I accept the punishment."

"Get out."

"Yes."

Kenneth hurried out, realizing only then that his back was drenched in sweat. He paused for a moment, then sent Sydney a message.

Meanwhile, Jonathan dialed Connor: "Hey, boss, you made it there already?"

...

Over at the Gilbert family estate, Joey was baffled.

Kenneth didn't seem like the type to turn his back on family. Why would he side with them and personally apprehend Brandon?

"My gut tells me Kenneth's under some serious pressure, forced into this," Jacob speculated, resting his chin on his hand. "But we don't know anyone in the Enforcement Division." novelbin

If they had connections, they wouldn't have been so panicked earlier.

Joey decided to drop it. "Alright, it's late. Let's all get some rest. Flora you're new here, so if you need anything, just let someone know."

Flora nodded.

Everyone headed to their rooms.

Flora's room was a bit off from the main house, tucked away in a quiet spot. As she opened the door, a feeling of unease washed over her.

She stopped in her tracks.
