Chapter 955
"Sherilyn..."
Gilbert's face was ashen, watching Sherilyn dash into the apartment, despair engulfing him, almost suffocating him!
This was a first for him, this feeling.
Back in the day, enduring torment within the Harrison family, surviving day by day without certainty of a tomorrow, he had never felt this way...
Sherilyn rushed back to her apartment, where Rebecca White had thoughtfully returned early.
"I'm back." Rebecca had left the door unlocked for her.
"Yeah." Sherilyn nodded, dropping her bag on the sofa, when she faintly heard voices from the balcony.
Turning her head, she saw Galen.
"Galen hasn't left yet?"
"Nope."
Rebecca explained, "While you were gone, Mr. Martin and I took turns here, he usually waits until I arrive before he leaves."
"Galen, you've been great, and you too, Rebecca."
"Are we back to saying such things?"
From the balcony, Galen's voice floated in intermittently.
It seemed like business matters, beyond the grasp of Sherilyn and Rebecca, yet from his tone and expressions, Galen seemed to be hitting a snag. "Let's leave it at that for now, I'll be right there."
Galen ended the call, his features tensed, stepping in from the balcony, his face lighting up upon seeing Sherilyn.
"Hey, sis, you're back?"
"Yeah."
Sherilyn smiled, "Just got here a bit ago. The shooting will be in the downtown area moving forward, so you won't have to commute here daily. Thanks for all the hard work."
"That's what uncles are for, isn't it?"
Galen glanced at his watch, "Jenna's already asleep. Sis, I should head out then."
"Alright."
Sherilyn stood up to see him to the door.
"Galen."
She grabbed his arm, asking in a low voice, "I overheard your call, is there something wrong?"
"Oh, just some work stuff."
Galen offered a reassuring smile, not delving into details, "It's a long story, don't worry about it, sis. I've got it handled. I should get going now, get back inside."
Sherilyn didn't press further; business was not her forte, and she wouldn't have been of much help.
"Safe travels."
"Will do."
After closing the door and returning
to the living room, she noticed
decca holding her phone,
the
device vibrating, yet she didn't answer.

Sherilyn glanced at the screen; the caller was Francis, unsurprisingly.
"Not picking up?"
"I won't."
Rebecca set down the phone, her expression a mix of confusion and bitterness, "You've seen it, after today's drama, even if I believe and accept him, Sylvia could never accept me."
That was the harsh reality; the matriarch was already bedridden because of it.
Sherilyn frowned, staying silent.
"Heh."
Rebecca took a shallow breath, managing a weak smile, "Considering we barely started, it's best to end things now, for both our sakes."
She didn't dare admit that over these past few days, a tender feeling had begun to sprout in her heart...
But now, there was no chance for it to grow.
It was late, and they decided to turn in for the night.
The next day before dawn, Sherilyn was already up and about, needing to head to the studio early.
Stepping out of the apartment, she was startled by a shadow lurking by the door!
"Who's there?"
Sherilyn pulled out her phone, turning on the flashlight, "Who is it?"
As she spoke, she instinctively reached into her bag for her pepper spray.
"It's me! Me!"
Recognizing the voice, Sherilyn paused, the phone's dim light revealing the person's face.
"Malvina Clayton?"
She immediately frowned, "What are you doing squatting here?"
"I..."

Malvina, seeing Sherilyn's guarded stance, quickly stepped back, hands up, "Don't worry, I'm not here to cause trouble! Look, I won't come any closer! I won't raise my voice either! Jenna's home, I know that."
Sherilyn's suspicion deepened.

When had she ever seen Malvina so cautious, almost appeasing?
