"Then call Kane." Adam huffed, bringing me back to the here and now; he was clearly not impressed with being woken for this shit. Standing from the chair, his body towered over me. It should scare me, but I wasn't afraid of him; I wasn't frightened by any of them. If I had learned anything in the last few months, it was that these fuckers loved me almost as much as I loved them.

"I did. He is not answering." Chase added, the sound of the bed creaking and announcing that he had gotten on the bed. Evidently, he thought he had won this argument.

"Then call his fucking mate. Charlotte, you are not going out at this time of night dressed in your damn Jammies.."

"Jammies.. really?" Chase laughed, cutting his older brother off. "Since when do you use cute words like that?" He grinned. In one smooth motion, both Adam and I turned to glare at Chase, my brows furrowed, and my lips pulled thin as I tried to reign in my anger. I didn't have time for this shit. Knox was in trouble.

"You actually look like siblings when you pull that face." Chase smirked, trying to copy our expression. Rolling my eyes, I looked at Adam.

"Was that a smile?" Sage asked, watching Adam, but as quick as his lips lifted, they pulled back into a frown.

"He is in trouble, Adam," I started, not wanting to elaborate on why I wanted to go see him.

"Then I will call his mate," he started to say, but I slammed my foot on the ground, realising just how childish I looked. I regretted it instantly.

"Aww, ain't she cute when she is sulky. Imagine how cute she was when she was like six or some shit." Chase mused from behind me. Glaring at him, I shook my head in warning.

"And what will she do? If she is not getting anything from it, she wont lift a finger to help them." I stated, ignoring Chase and his bull shit to address Adam.

"True dat." Chase snorted from behind me.

"Whose fucking side are you even on?" I growled at Chase, finding myself confused by his mood swings and glory-hunting.

"Theirs." he nodded to my stomach while poking his tongue out. Flipping him off, I turned back to look at Adam and his stern eyes. "Adam.. I"

"Then perhaps they should have

thought of that before they cast you a fucking side, Charlotte. Who the fuck rejects a girl who would walk through bell for them... For some

selfish gutter rat? You. Are. Not net

Going Adam roared, his hand slamming against the side of the bed. Pouting angrily, I watched his knuckles turn white with the restraint he was showing because I knew there was more he wanted to say. Well fuck him, I have things to say too.

"He is the father to my pups, Adam. Maybe if you had children or let anyone in for a bloody minute, you would not be so fucking cold-hearted." I yelled, standing my ground.

"Lottie." Chase warned. "Enough, he is.."

"Out of here." Adam snapped before pushing off the bedframe, the weight change making it crack loudly. I watched him storm to the door and felt my stomach sink. A tear slipped down my cheek, and I brushed it away quickly, not wanting to argue with them; I loved them. They were all I had now.

"You all seem to forget I am your sister.. not your damn property, not your kid. I am a grown-ass woman who will rule this bloody pack one day." I demanded as Adam reached the door. "You need to trust me." I added with a sigh; seeing his shoulders droop, I hoped I was getting through to him.

"And you need to trust us; it is our job to keep you safe. Even if it is from yourself." Adam muttered before leaving the room, the thud of the door slamming announcing his departure to the whole house.

"I am going, Chase, so either stay here or come with me. But either way, I am leaving." I stood watching Chase as he sat back on the bed, baiting me with that infuriating smirk of his. He remained silent while delivered my ultimatum. An ultimatum I was deadly serious way, I was going to help Knox. Resting his hands above his head, he kicked the covers back and settled into my bed.

about because either ve

"You won't go," he laughed. "Not even I am suicidal enough to defy Adam." He scoffed, and I rolled my lips, working through his words. I loved Adam; the last thing I wanted was to piss him off more by leaving. But Knox was my mate-or he was and he was in trouble. It was my duty to help if I could.

"I am not just anyone, brother," I stated, shaking my head. "And it's not Adam you should fear but a heavily pregnant and hormonal woman who is sleep-deprived and fed up with being told what to do by people who claim they know best."

"Lottie." Storming towards the door, I paused when I heard him call my name. Turning to look at him, I saw his face soften slightly and breathed a sigh of relief-he was going to help me.

"Turn off the light, sis." Pissed, upset, and angry, I took a deep breath.

"This is MY room, Chase, and you

need to be gone from it when I return." His seoff in reply only fueled the fire within me. "Or I'm asking Liam to be godfather instead of you!" He looked momentarily stunned, but I didn't wait for his response. I flicked off the light and slammed the door behind me, my heart pounding. My thoughts were a tangled mess of worry for Knox, frustration with Chase and Adam, and the ever-present ache of

missing my mates.

Knox needed help, and I wasn't about to sit idly by while he got himself into more trouble. I grabbed Chase's keys and headed for the door, determined to find him and maybe put a dent or ten in Chase's car in the process.
