Chapter 7 Awkward
Chapter 7 Awkward
“Fine. You don’t need to say it if you don’t want. But you can’t cut off contact with me, you hear me?” He let go of her and stroked her head twice, pampering her. His eyes scanned on her bun hair and her dress. He frowned but didn’t say anything.
Helen nodded and didn’t dare to look at him. He always seemed to be so understanding.
It was just that, didn’t this man act too much?
There was a ring. It was Xia Yu’s phone.
He picked up and said, “Dad, I can’t make it. Something comes up. Yeah… Up to you.”
After that, the coldness on his face turned strangely gentle when he turned and faced Helen. “Give me your new phone number,” he said and not waiting for Helen to react, he pulled out her phone in his hand and called his own number. After he heard his ringtone, he then felt satisfied and returned it back to her.
“Do you want to sit for a moment?” Seeing that Xia Yu seemed to have no intention of leaving, Helen motioned him to sit beside her. He was good-looking and tall, eye-catching as he stood at the hall.
However, when she sat down, she felt a little bit cold. Then, she felt a ‘warm tide’ from under her body.
“Ah…” she whispered and covered her mouth, biting her lip and frowning.
She didn’t need to look. She knew that her period had to have come, and her pants had to become dirty because of this. After giving birth to Paddy, her previous menstrual pain had disappeared. Every time she was on her period, she didn’t feel anything. In the past, she would pay attention for a few days. But, because of Paddy recently, she was distracted, so…
“What’s wrong?” Xia Yu asked nervously as he saw her face slightly changed. He got up and squatted in front of her.
Helen glanced around Xia Yu and was frowning. Very quietly, she said, “My period has come. It… It looks like I’ve dirtied my pants.”
It was her first time to talk about this issue to a man. Immediately, Helen’s face flushed red.
Xia Yu was just dumbfounded for a moment. He deliberately coughed, then leaned over to Helen and softly said, “Wait here for me. I’ll be right back. Be good.”
Without giving Helen a chance to response, he ran to the door…
Looking at his back, Helen lost in her head for a moment. She raised her hand to touch her cheek. When she was in school, because of her beauty, a lot of people liked her, pursued her, and treated her good, but she didn’t think much of them.
But, since she put on makeup to look like this, Xia Yu was the first man to show such kindness. And he was outstanding.
She gulped. Her mind was feeling complicated.
Suddenly, the whispers in the hall stopped and it was unusually quiet. Then she heard the sound of fast footsteps.
After several men in suits and leather shoes filed out, a man in coffee-colored suit appeared in front of everyone. Straight eyebrows, intense face features, big and tall but slender figure—a perfect man!
Feeling his gaze swept to her direction, Helen quickly lowered her head and waited for him to walk over her.
“It’s your nanny!” Liu Xu saw Helen too.
“Check on her. What is she doing here?”
Liu Xu avoided everyone’s stares. He stepped back and walked towards Helen from the other side of the crowd. Helen nodded towards him and took out the medicine in advance from her bag. She handed it to him, “Mrs. Liu said that this is for young master.” Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
After she said that, she ignored Liu Xu and simply bowed her head.
When Antony Davis passed her, she could feel he was watching her. But she didn’t want to acknowledge him. His disrespect last night had made her upset.
It was just that…
“You aren’t leaving?” he unexpectedly spoke up.
Helen frowned and thought for a while, then she truthfully answered, “I’m… waiting for someone.”
She was thinking, then looked at the time on her phone. She said, “Paddy is sleeping. I’m going back soon.”
“Who allows you to do your private affairs in working hours?” Antony turned, took a few steps forward and stood in front of Helen. Seeing Helen lowering her head and not looking at him, he felt a bit angry for being ignored. Then he used the folder in his hand to raise Helen’s forehead, forcing her to stare at him.
His unusual behavior caused everyone in the room to gasp. To make Antony Davis, who had always been cold, to do such thing. Who was this woman? She was even so average? A female worker who was the closest reminded Helen, “Get up now. How can you’re still sitting seeing Mr. Davis?’”
Helen felt blood rush to the top of her head. Stood up? Could she stand up? Could she not?
Seeing that she wasn’t moving, a lot of people started to talk at the back. Who was Antony Davis? A lot of high-ranking officials even had to bow their heads to him for three seconds when they saw him. From her appearance, the woman was probably just a part-time worker. But she dared to be ostentatious.
Antony was silent and merely stared at her, as if he was seeing through her.
Helen raised her hand and waved away his folder. She was a bit disturbed with his action. She was only working at his house. Why did this man act as mighty as an emperor?
And he was being excessively narcissistic.
If it weren’t for Paddy Davis, she would never have gone to work at his place.
Thinking about this, she looked away and directly ignored the group of people before her.
She actually knew that her attitude would annoy Antony, but in this world, she had no other worries except for Paddy Davis. So, what was there to be afraid of? Besides, how could she explain in front of so many people?
The disdain and impatience she revealed made Antony suspect that there was something wrong with his eyes.
Helen…” It was Xia Yu’s voice.
Helen had never known that a person’s voice could sound so nice. At this moment, she felt that it was comparable to the ‘sound of nature’. She quickly turned her head and looked at the place where the source of voice was. Her face instantly filled with smile.
She saw that on Xia Yu’s left arm was hanging a black-and-white checkered shirt, while the other arm was carrying a black paper bag. He crossed the crowd and walked towards her.
“Xia Yu!” She looked up at him. After a long time, she finally called out his name, but she was silently relieved.
“Here, put on this shirt.” As if no one else was present, Xia Yu helped Helen to put on the shirt. Then he leaned over and whispered in her ear, “You can get up now. I’ll take you to the bathroom.”
He said very softly and his heat blew on Helen’s ear. The blush that had finally faded on Helen’s face rose again.
But the scene before Antony’s eyes were immensely stabbing his eyes.
Helen didn’t dare to look at the stares of people around. She got up and grabbed Xia Yu’s arm. She thought for a moment, then turned and nodded at Antony, but didn’t say anything. She walked to the other direction of the hall.
Her hand unconsciously pulled the hem of the shirt on her body and found out that the length was already reaching her knees. Then she relaxed.
Antony was so angry, he was going crazy. Growing up, he had never been ignored and treated this way before, not to mention in front of so many people.
In an instant, his face was livid. His hand which was holding on the folder was turning white…
