The fate of the Rejected Alpha

34. Mates, part 12.

AN OUTBURST

“Is there a problem?” Mary questions watching Margaret at her door.

“Not quite. I was just remembering the past.”

“Good memories, I hope,” she says as she combs her black hair.

“You really are soft, you can hardly say that you are the same Mary as before,” Margaret enters Mary’s room and sits down on the bed.

“What does this mean?” Mary sits down too.

“You were once feared, the terror of the supernatural. In your eyes was notorious your hatred and contempt for them. You were a cold, calculating person. How did you get like this? I admired you so much, I wanted to be like you, but… Ever since Occisor came here… You haven’t been you. ”

Mary sighs. She remembers who she was, she remembers all the hatred she has nurtured in her brain, she remembers the son who has been taken away from her and who hates her more than anything. But now, with the family she’d built, with the scene she’d seen when she’d adopted Occisor, all her hatred had become grief and sorrow. Her view of the relationship between beings changed, before her just as Margaret wanted the end of all, today, after a conversation she had with Occisor about everyone living in peace, she began to imagine what it would be like, and now she longs for it.

“Over the years, new experiences come and with them comes improvement.”

“I don’t think you’re better, you’re weak!”

“No, Margaret. Now I see things as they really are.”

“And what does it look like? I don’t understand it.”

“I’ve suffered a lot in the past, I’ve suffered things I’ve never told anyone. Hatred blinded me and made my name feared. The races hate each other. What brought this on? As much as humanity is the weakest race, it is also the most petty. Today I see, the human race does not fight for freedom. They fight for superiority. They want to have control over everyone else.

“Because everyone else steps on them, the werewolves make them into slaves and food. Vampires make them into surrogates and prostitutes. Witches use virgins in disgusting rituals.”

“The witches stopped doing that months ago. After the first princess began to lead their kind, no rituals were performed nor did they go to war anymore. And they’ll never do it again.

“How can you say that?”

“Angèle herself contacted me six months ago. She wants peace.

“Who’s to say she’s not lying?”

“Just look at the number of survivors. The commoners of that species do not have so much power, nor can they be considered witches, most are not even magical.”

“Just like vampires?”

“Yeah, just like the two of us. We’re not purebred, we don’t have as much power as born vampires. Angèle no longer wants to see the death of her people, she tried to create an alliance with the other races, but so far without success.”

“I don’t trust them, they want an alliance now because they’re on the verge of extinction, but what about when they get back to being numerous? They’ll come back for us. And I don’t trust the werewolves or the vampires. Not to mention the Corde and his son.”

Mary closes her eyes tightly as she hears about the Corde. The Corde is the first vampire and the son of Hades. Pure-blooded vampires can live for up to five millennia, vampires for up to two millennia. Just like the course of life, the powers between the three classes are also like this. Mary is of the lowest class, but just as Occisor became the terror if his race. Using expert human-made weapons to kill vampires.

“You’re blind.”

“No, you’re the blind ones. You don’t see what a mistake it is to leave her here. She doesn’t want to kill, she will definitely make Occisor’s stop doing that too.”

Mary sighed, she herself had already tried to convince Occisor to stop, but just like Margaret, her words had no effect, but she was very happy that Occisor had not killed his mate and that was already a big step.

“I had a son,” Mary says suddenly, taking Margaret by surprise.

“Born of you?”

“Yes.”

“What happened to him?”

“He’s in a place where I can’t find him.”

“What do you mean? Did he…? Did he die?” she asks, sad to see the sadness in Mary’s eyes.

“No. When I was sold to a vampire, he was the Dracula. The first vampire, Hades’ son on earth,” a small smile of denial adorns Mary’s face. “It took only one night for me to get pregnant, and only one week for the baby to be born. The Corde liked my body and didn’t allow me to die, so he turned me into a vampire. I couldn’t stay with my son for another minute after a week. Dracula used me for two long years, forced me to say horrible things to my son, but then… I managed to escape. I was told that he traveled with our son. I managed to disguise myself and managed to escape from his castle. I went to the mountains, met some humans there and told them my story. They taught me everything I know about fights and weapons, I became an ally of the church and have been feared ever since.”

“I… I didn’t know that part of your life. Why didn’t you ever tell me you had a child?”

“He hates me, I tried to get in touch with him. He hates me and swore to kill me. This has been going on for over a millennium. Today he can already do that, at that time he was very young and had no control of his powers.”

“I… I won’t allow it to happen! Let him dare to come near you, I don’t care if he’s your son. I will not allow him to kill my… mother,” Margaret whispers the last word.

“You and Occisor are my children, I love you two,” Mary hugs Margaret.

Even though Margaret loves Mary and Occisor, her traumas won’t let her forgive the fight between the races. She doesn’t care about the consequences, she just wants to exterminate them from the earth. It doesn’t matter if it’s the wolves, the witches, other vampires or any other hybrid species. To her everyone is cruel and the salvation of the world is their death.

Margaret kisses Mary’s forehead and leaves the eldest bedroom, walking to her own bedroom.

In the next room, Sasha and Occisor are lying looking at each other and cuddling. A smile springs from Sasha’s lips.

“What?” Occisor questions her looking confused, but smiling as well.

“I wonder what a pup of ours would look like.”

Occisor’s smile fades and Sasha is left confused.

“We’re not going to have a pup.”

“Why?” She sits on the bed.

“I don’t want one.”

“You don’t think I’m good enough to carry your offspring in my womb?”

“Don’t talk nonsense, you’re my destined mate.”

“So why don’t you want a pup?”

“I don’t want to have any descendants. I don’t want to help prolong my kind.”

“You don’t want to build a family with me.”

“We’re already a family. Me, you, Mary and Margaret. We don’t need anyone else.”

“But I…”

“No, Sasha!” he says rudely so she doesn’t argue anymore.

Sasha speaks no more, just lies on her back and closes her eyes tightly, but that doesn’t stop the tears from falling from her eyes. Occisor did not like to feel sad, but he does not want to have children and will not.

He raises his hand in order to caress Sasha’s arm, but she pulls away from his touch. It makes him angry, but he doesn’t say anything. He just lies on his back too.

She will get over it, he thinks and closes his eyes in an attempt to go to sleep.
