Chapter 164
Dominic
I could've come to see Carmella on the night she attacked Vanessa, but at the time, she wasn't that important. I also knew she wouldn't be able to escape since we had her locked up.
Frank and I arrive at the door of the room she's in and I stop in my tracks, stretching my neck a few times just to stay calm.
"Are you sure you want to do this?" he asks. "You look like you're going to break her face."Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.
"I might."
He chuckles, knowing that I don't mean it.
The security in charge pushes the door open for us and there she is, sitting on the other side of the room with messy hair, her handcuffed hands resting on the table.
She rises to her feet so she can rush to me with excitement, but security holds her down, reminding her of the rules.
Despite the warnings, Carmella turns frantic and just wants to have her way so she can come to me. It's only when the woman holds onto the gun strapped on the side of her waist that Carmella instantly calms down.
The closer I get to her, the more flashbacks I see of how she slashed Vanessa's stomach. It makes me clench my jaw so hard that Frank places his hand on my shoulder.
"Hey, maybe this isn't a good idea," he suggests.
"If I wait any longer, then maybe I'll definitely break her face."
"Hey, babe! Hey, Frank!" she says casually, her smile not fading. "You finally came to see me! Am I getting out? Can you believe that these people are still keeping me here? It must be because of your dad or something!" Her nonchalance as she talks about it all makes me want to flip the table in front of me.
"Hasn't it yet registered in your head that you're where you belong after what you did to Vanessa?" I say to her.
She gasps, her wide eyes filled with hope. "Wait, did I actually kill her? Is that why you came here without her?"
"No, she's decided to stay home because she thought she'd break your face if she sees you. And our baby is fine."
Her smile fades and she angrily slams the table. "What the fuck? They survived?"
"That's what I just said. Maybe you should have thought about the fact that it was the wrong time for what you did. We were right next to the hospital. On the other hand, I don't expect much from you because you've never been the brightest."
She looks away for a moment, as if thinking about it and lowers her head, sighing with frustration that she didn't think about that part.
Suddenly, she faces me, her movements frantic as she says, "When are you getting me out of here?"
Frank scoffs in disbelief.
I glance at him, then back at her as I respond. "Do you really think it's that simple?"
She shrugs. "Why else would you come here to see me?"
"You tried to murder my wife in the presence of others and you think you're going to get out of here?"
She twists her face in an ugly sneer, leaning forward. "I'm getting out of here because you're going to make that happen, or I'll tell your entire family the truth. I still don't know how the fuck you did it, but you prevented me from doing it online. Even when your dad pressured me to speak up and explain to him why I called you 'baby' that day, I said nothing. You better start working on getting me out of here or I'll make sure you regret it."
Frank chuckles, then quickly covers his mouth.
She looks at him, then back at me. "What's funny?"
I poke my cheek with a smirk. "That's now just a fucking empty threat. I already told them everything."
"What? Why would you fucking tell them?" She yells, rising to her feet, but the security guard behind her presses her hand down on her shoulder and shoves her back down in her seat.
"You really can't threaten me with that," I say to her.
The corner of her mouth twitches as she breathes hard, trying so hard to come up with something that she can use against me.
Finally thinking of something, she mockingly looks right at me. "It doesn't matter if you told your family the truth. The only reason I wanted to do it was so you wouldn't get shit from what your dad promised you. I'm guessing that happened."
I calmly nod in agreement. "You're right. My dream company is now out of reach."
She sneers. "And you fucking deserve it!"
"But," I pause, raising a finger. "I'm still worth billions of dollars. I just won't have my dream company."
"And that still hurts, doesn't it?" She raises her eyebrows with a chuckle.
"Of course it does, but do you know what made me come to this decision? It's because I realized it's not the most important thing anymore."
"Oh, yeah? What the hell could be more important than what you've been after for so long?"
"My wife and our growing family. I started falling out of love with you several months ago and along the way, my feelings for her began to grow stronger. When I saw here bleeding out, I knew I needed her by my side so we could shape a different future together
Her smile fades and she shoots me a glare for a few seconds, then swings her fists at me with rage.
Quickly, I lean back, pushing my chair away from the table.
The security guard restrains her, but that doesn't stop her from yelling as she bursts into tears..
"How could you say that? No! You don't mean that at all! You ruined my life!"
Frank and I glance at each other, shocked that she still wants to play the victim.
After another warning from security, she sits back down while breathing hard.
I get closer again, placing my hands on the table. "I should've known from the beginning that you were nothing but a liar."
"What shit are you talking about now?"
"Didn't you see Patrick at the launch after you attacked my wife?"
Her face turns pale.
"He was there. I know he's your ex-husband. He told me everything you did to him. And then you came to me, twisting the truth of what actually happened."
"I... don't know what you're talking about." She shrugs.
"I should've never believed you, but I
guess you were just that great of an actress. When I came in, you seemed hopeful that you'd be
getting out, but you're completely on your own. We haven't even pressed charges yet."
She brings her hands together, getting down on her knees. "Please don't let this happen to me!"
I quickly straighten my posture and face the door, Frank following behind me.
"Hey, Frank!" she calls out to him. "Talk to this son of a bitch!"
"Wow!" Frank says, covering his mouth as he holds in his laughter.
It takes me a moment to walk out as I have one more thing to say to her, so I turn around and approach her while she's still on her knees. She even smiles a little, a glimmer of hope in her eyes.
I go around the table and lean forward so I can get closer to her face as I speak to her.
"Angela," I call out her real name and her hope fades. "You're the worst thing that could ever happen to anyone and you're going to get exactly what you fucking deserve."
And with that, I straighten up again, making my way out while she screams at the top of her lungs with threats.
The further away I am, the louder she screams and it all just makes me shake my head in disbelief that there was a time when she was all I wanted.
Frank approaches me in the corridor, huffing loudly with wide eyes. "It's almost like she gets crazier every time!"
"You're right about that."
"Good thing she's not my ex!"
"What the hell is that supposed to mean?" I furrow my eyebrows.
While he goes on to explain the way
he felt during the time we were in that room with Carmella, an incoming call from Vanessa grabs my attention and I instantly panic, fearing that something went wrong while I was away.
"Hello?" I say with worry.
"Hey, are you done?" she asks from the other end of the line.
"Yeah, I'm just about to leave."
"Can you come home right now?"
"What happened?" I place a hand on my chest, feeling it hurt as I begin to panic.
"Please just come as soon as you can."
