The Cherished Wife

Chapter 728

"What do you mean? Did you actually have a confrontation with Charlie?"

"I just..." Milo had not even finished his sentence when his phone rang. "What is it?" he snapped.

"Mr. Baker, the Sanders family from Harborpoint has decided to withdraw their investment. They said they're no longer considering a partnership," Milo's secretary reported from the other end.

Milo froze, his eyes turning sharp. "What did you just say?"

"Jonathan Sanders himself said they won't be working with Baker Group this time." The secretary nervously gulped before continuing, "And there's more..."

"What else?" Milo demanded.

"Mr. Jace was photographed in Melcoon recently. Sir Baker is interrogating him now. Also, Baker Group's share price is plummeting. The chairman wants you to return immediately."

"Jace Baker!" Milo seethed through gritted teeth, springing to his feet. "Book me a flight for this afternoon. I'm heading back right away!"

After ending the call, Milo's expression turned even more severe. Clarisse had overheard parts of the conversation and pieced some of it together. "Is the partnership off? And what's going on with Jace?"

"That ungrateful son of mine is going to be the death of me!" Milo growled, gripping his phone tightly. "I have to return to Capiton immediately. You handle things here in Brookville.

"Remember, don't touch Noelle for now. As for Winter, do whatever you want with her. Since he doesn't care anymore, we don't need to hold back." "What do you mean by that? Are you really going to go head-to-head with Charlie?" Clarisse asked, alarmed.

Baker Group had only just started to recover, but even now, they were a shadow of their former self. This

However, everything had a flip side. From the moment they tried to trap Charles three years ago, it was inevitable that they would be at odds with him.

"It's not that I want a fight. He simply refuses to cooperate," Milo said, frowning. "If he had helped the Bakers from the start, I wouldn't have pushed him to be with J.

"But since he got involved with her and won't take responsibility, we have no other choice. And neither does he. I know he's your son and you care for him, but don't forget-you're a Baker.

"The Hoffmans wronged you back then. Both Mateo and Henry toyed with your feelings. None of the Hoffmans are good people!"

"Milo!" Clarisse's face went pale. "Let's not talk about the past."

"I'm reminding you that you're a Baker," Milo continued. "If someone pushes you, you push back. Whether it's Mateo or Henry, they owe you, and so do the Hoffmans."
