Chapter 695
"I think of you every single moment, every second. I wish I could fly to you right now!" Charles rarely spoke sweet words, but when he did, it could take anyone by surprise.
Noelle could not help but laugh, her lips curling into a smile. "I miss you too, Charlie. It'd be a lie if I said I didn't. I miss you so much that I don't want to be apart from you, not even for a second!"
Hearing Noelle's words melted Charles' heart and completely erased any thoughts of work. "Good girl," he murmured.
"Alright, since you're home now, and I'm home too, you don't have to worry. I just got back, and I'm all sweaty, so I'm going to take a shower," Noelle said, trying to sound upbeat. "You should rest early. Goodnight."
"Goodnight," Charles replied as he ended the call. He stared at his phone, a sharp, intense look crossing his normally calm eyes. He tightened his grip on the phone and only loosened it after several moments.
Afraid that she might want to cling to Charles even more, Noelle hung up quickly and tossed her phone aside. She then headed to the bathroom for a shower. When she emerged, half an hour had already passed.
She dried her hair and sat in the living room, lost in thought. Feeling restless, she grabbed the remote, flipping through the TV channels.
She had lived alone in this place for so long before and had grown accustomed to it. Why did she feel so unsettled after just one day away from Charles? Why did she suddenly find it so difficult to adapt to this environment?
Noelle always thought of herself as a strong, independent woman. Even when facing Xavier and Winter's betrayal, she had not felt as restless as she did now.
Unable to watch TV any longer, she turned it off and headed to the bedroom.
She sat on the bed, wrapping herself tightly in the blanket. It was cold, being winter and all.
Back at Phoenix Tree Residence,
Charles would always hold her, keeping her warm. Now, no matter how hard she tried to warm up by herself, she could not. Feeling frustrated, Noelle picked up her phone and searched for Charles' name on WhatsApp.
She clicked on his profile, then closed the app. She did it over and over again.novelbin
She eventually lost track of how long
she had been doing it. Her fingers
had even grown stiff from the. motion, and when she finally. checked the time on her phone, she
was stunned.
It was already 11:30 pm, and she had spent over an hour just toggling in and out of his profile.
Noelle smacked her forehead in disbelief. "Noelle, get a grip!" she scolded herself.
"You were doing perfectly fine before you met Charles. Why are you acting like you're under some kind of spell now?"
Suddenly, she heard a faint click. Noelle snapped back to reality, her heart skipping a beat as her hair stood on end. Was there a burglar?
Fear crept over her, and she scrambled to find something to defend herself with while quickly reaching for her phone. As the footsteps drew closer, Noelle's entire body tensed.
She held her phone in one hand and a pair of scissors from her dresser in the other. Just as the door creaked open, Noelle was about to shout but froze when she saw the familiar figure standing there.
"Charlie!"
