Chapter 233 Starting to Move
Emily called out, "Abigail."
Emily really didn't want to bother Michael.
From what she knew about him, asking for a favor meant he'd never let her forget it, always bringing it up, and probably expecting some grand gesture in return.
It was just too much for her to handle.
Out of the blue, Michael turned to Abigail and said, "Housing's been tight in Emerald City lately. Still looking? I can help."
"Really?" Abigail's heart melted at the CEO's offer. "Thank you so much, Mr. Smith. You're too kind. If there's any news about the new house, just contact Emily. Our phone is on 24/7!" Abigail agreed right away, walking Michael out with a big smile.
Seeing this, Emily quickly pulled Abigail to the sofa and started lecturing her. "Abigail, didn't you used to hate Michael? What's with the sudden change?"
Abigail looked at Emily like she was clueless, then pulled her to the sofa and bluntly said, "Emily, are you really that naive?"
Emily was confused, but then saw Abigail holding her forehead in frustration. "Michael's attitude towards you has changed a lot. Haven't you thought... maybe you two could..."
Seeing Abigail's teasing smile, Emily knew exactly what she was hinting at.novelbin
So she shot it down immediately. "No way. Michael can't have feelings for me."
Abigail was puzzled. "How do you know?"
Emily quickly replied, "I just know."
Emily was sure Michael would never fall for her.
She had seen his disdain and contempt for her, and his deep affection for Sophia.
So she was confident Michael would never like her, not in this lifetime.
Plus, she had been through too much with Michael. How could she possibly go back now?
Emily said, "Abigail, things aren't as you imagine. Michael being nice to me now is just a coincidence... even if he feels a bit guilty, it's not love. You'll understand someday."
Would she really understand?
Seeing Emily so determined, Abigail didn't push it.
But she didn't agree with Emily's view.
She was even more convinced of her own suspicion.
Lately, Michael had been very thoughtful and considerate towards Emily.
However, time would tell. Abigail knew Emily was strong-willed and had her own opinions, always following her own path, and no one could persuade her otherwise.
So she decided to take a different approach. "Emily, look at you. I was just joking, and you took it seriously! It's okay. I know you don't want to owe Michael a favor, but I'm out of money now and can't afford to rent a place. You know, if I stay here any longer, I'll get depressed."
"Even though you've been trying to help me, we both know it's not easy to find a place that meets our criteria! Otherwise, we wouldn't have been looking for so long without any luck. In my opinion, why not let Michael help? After all, you two aren't divorced yet. Your business is his business!"
Abigail's arguments were spot on.
With her quick wit and sharp tongue, Abigail had Emily agreeing to let Michael help in no time.

After all, she hadn't really gotten any perks from being married to him all these years. Letting him help now wouldn't hurt.
Meanwhile, Michael had already asked Andrew to find a house near Emerald Lake Manor.
His plan was simple.
Since Emily didn't want to move back to Emerald Lake Manor, he'd have her live nearby, as close as possible.
Even if they did get divorced one day, the house at Emerald Lake Manor would still be hers.
He thought that selecting Abigail's place close to Emily's would also benefit her; so that was a way to help Emily.
On the way back, Michael couldn't figure out if he was in love with Emily.
But he had once given this love to Sophia.
They were half-sisters with a complicated relationship..
This was what troubled Michael the most. He deeply regretted his past decisions and choices but had to face the consequences. He knew he owed Emily and could only try to make amends. As for Sophia... thinking of her made Michael's expression turn cold. He just hoped to end things with her completely and never see her again.
Most of the houses near Emerald Lake Manor were villas, similar in layout and floors to Emerald Lake Manor.
Apart from being a bit pricey, there was hardly any other flaw.
But for Michael, this wasn't a problem.

So Andrew quickly found a suitable house.
The house had an elegant environment, complete facilities, convenient transportation, and a broad view.
Of course, the main point was that it was very close to Emerald Lake Manor, almost just a small alley away.
Michael personally checked out the house, making sure everything met Emily's preferences and habits.
After arranging everything, Michael called Emily to tell her he had found a suitable place for her.
Emily was surprised. In just two days, Michael had efficiently found a house.
But thinking about it, finding a house in a place as expensive as Emerald City was difficult only for ordinary people like them. For Michael, it was just a matter of giving an order. Emily said, "Thanks. How much is the rent? I can transfer the money to you now."
The other end of the phone seemed very busy, with a lot of background noise. After a while, Michael briefly replied and then hurriedly hung up. "We'll talk about it when you move. I'm very busy right now." Helpless, Emily could only swallow back the words she wanted to say.
She actually wanted to tell Michael to take care of himself and remember to eat.
But those words were too heavy.
Emily resented herself for caring about Michael and hated herself for not being able to let go of this feeling.
On the other hand, Abigail was full of praise for Michael's arrangements.
Clearly, their joys and sorrows were not the same. The two started busying themselves with moving, while Michael was busy with Smith Corporation's work, and was also quietly handling everything behind the scenes for them.
