Chapter 27. Missing Brat
Luka’s POV
“What do you mean she’s missing?!!” Nikolai slammed the table with his palm.
Everyone at the house was busy looking for her. Even Demyan hasn’t got back, afraid that he might get shot for losing Olga. Again.
But I could feel it, this was my fault. I kept on seeing the CCTV footage of her. She voluntarily headed out to the restaurant with the guy.
I know she was upset with me, and she’s a brat, my brat. I should’ve known better. I know every time I let her down she would do things to irritate me. And having lunch with some guy was it.
“I’m fucking tracing her! Just shut it!” I was fuming at Nikolai, my mind was running at a high speed.
He was a bit taken back by my sudden outburst, but I couldn’t care less. My fingers were typing furiously and at the same time, I hated myself for making her go to him.
If only…
Goddamn it!
“He’s my freaking brother! This is why I need to lay low. Shit!”
I could finally see his facial feature and recognized the tattoos peeking from his shirt.
I didn’t even know that I have a brother until yesterday. I received an urgent message from my contact, saying I have a brother tied in with one of the country’s biggest drug cartel.
So yesterday I was busy with my contact in Russia, she was saying this also had to do with my parents. He was the reason that they let me go, she even told me that their files run deeper than what we initially found.
I was so immersed in my issues that I completely ignored my brat. And because of that, she was paying for my negligence. For the first time in my life, I was happy, for the first time someone actually might love me back. But now…
“What do you mean he’s your brother? I thought you said you’re an orphan?” Nikolai demanded harshly.
Arrghh… too many questions!
I was still typing on my laptop, I’ve cracked and sneaked my way into traffic cams servers and buildings surrounding the area, only to receive an email from an unknown secured line.
You will stay away from my business, or else she dies little brother. You have nice taste by the way.
My fingers stopped typing, my brain was refusing to cooperate, my heart thumped at a higher rate. All I saw was her face, her pout, and her snappy bratty attitude.
I got up and smash my knuckles to the nearest wall. I need to feel something else than the desperation, frustration, and the longing for her to be by my side.
Nikolai cursed when he saw the message on my laptop. Then at that same time, Alexei came and join us.
“Luka sit. She’s my daughter, you boys follow my lead. We’re doing this the old fashion way. I will get Grigory and Maxim on this, we’re going all out.”
I could see him fuming when he saw the message, but he didn’t say anything to me. I was ready to be gunned down, but I was hoping he would do it later after I get her back home.
“… and get that knuckles wrapped. I don’t want you leaving traces of evidence everywhere. You’re coming with us….”Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.
He throws me a kitchen napkin to wrap my battered knuckles. I didn’t even realize that it was dripping blood, I felt numbed already. Then Alexei told me to get my stuff and follow him to the car.
We were quickly on our way to Grigory’s mansion. I could hear Nikolai was calling Max, telling him to get back to his dad’s and met us there.
I was opening my laptop again, I need to keep my mind busy. The shock was fading away, my brain has slowly regaining its function, and thinking hundreds of ways to find her.
I was still tracking the email and sighed when I finally able to pin the exact location of the sender. Then quickly send it to Nikolai’s and Max’s phone.
This is the last time. I’m not letting her go through it again. This was the second time her life was in danger because of me.
We finally arrived at Grigory’s mansion. There were six black SUVs parked on the driveway already. Then I saw Max getting out of his car.
“I got the location that you send me earlier, come let’s do this and get her back home.”
Grigory was already at his home office and was welcoming his brother Alexei. Words were exchanged then he takes a quick glance at me, and pat his bother telling him they’re getting Olga back.
I was feeling sick to my stomach, I need them to hurry with the pleasantries, or I was going to do it on my own.
Max seemed to see my agitation, and start telling me to explain to everyone who we were dealing with.
“He’s my brother, involved in the Sokolov drug cartel. I just know about him yesterday. I’m sorry I should’ve paid more attention to your daughter, Olga.” I got a bit carried away as I mentioned her name, I could feel my chest starts to suffocate. So I got up and start to pace myself.
“… Yegor, my brother according to my contact was under surveillance and she said that I should be careful with him…” I explained while turning my laptop to them and showed his picture aside with Olga who was talking with him.
Alexei seemed shocked that Olga, was actually reckless enough to follow the guy to his car.
“She was somehow forced, look….” I showed them the CCTV image from the other sides.
“This is all on me, can we just get her now? And I’ll get out of here and take my issues elsewhere. She’s been gone to fucking long!”
I started pacing again, pressing my wounded knuckles with my other hand trying to feel the pain, and get rid of the ache on my chest.
“As I said we’re doing this the old way. So SIT. She’s my daughter, we will deal with this accordingly. I assumed this was the same men who successfully infiltrated my mansion and got me shot?”
“Yes.” I took my seat and relaxed as I feel the pain on my knuckles start to throb and the blood seeping through its fabric.
It was a grueling twenty minutes, then all of us finally stepped out of his office taking several guns. Demyan and Ramon were getting more guns, from the secret stash up in the office ceiling.
It was not until we reached the car and he was sitting next to me, that he finally said his words.
“We will get her back, then you will solve any issues you have with my daughter. Both of you are good for each other, I’ve been watching.”
Nikolai was sitting on the passenger seat in front of me. I realized that he was packing and securing his guns unnecessarily harsh for me to hear. He was really mad at me, but I was glad that he was willing to wait until we secure Olga to deal with me later.
I just wanted her back and safe.
I need her to be safe.
