Revenge After rebirth (Mayra and Anderson)

Chapter 34

Mayra's smile faded in an instant, leaving only horror and confusion. She had no idea why he was here right now.

She wasn't aware that she was instinctively shielding Gordon. She took a step forward and stood in front of him, holding his hand stiffly. Looking at Anderson on the second floor, she looked like she had been suddenly caught on a date by her absent parent.

"A-Andy, what brings you here?" She attempted to sound calm. When Anderson didn't respond, she quickly urged Gordon, "You should go back first. My brother is back."

Gordon lowered his head. Noticing that Mayra seemed to be afraid of Anderson, he didn't want to embarrass her. After returning her bag to her, he turned and left.

Mayra lowered her head uneasily as she watched Anderson descend.

Anderson, who was in a tailored suit, approached her swiftly. His outfit contrasted with the simple long dress she was wearing. She rarely felt so uncomfortable with him.

"Why did you stop smiling when you saw me?"

When Mayra heard Anderson's angry voice, she instantly raised her head and smiled. However, it was stiff and emotionless. Anderson thought it was perfunctory and alienated.

"You must have been mistaken. When did you come back? Why haven't you called me?" He didn't answer her, but instead got into the car.

Shane responded, "Ms. Sadler, Mr. Barlow has been waiting for you all day."

Anderson said to her, "Get in the car!"

Had he been waiting for her all day? Why didn't she know that? Mayra walked over hesitantly but didn't dare to sit with Anderson. Before she could open the passenger door, his voice came again. "Come here."

She then moved to the back door, but she was unable to open it. She was so nervous that she forgot the car door would open automatically. Mayra held her bag as she sat far apart from Anderson in the car. Exclusive © material by Nô(/v)elDrama.Org.

He didn't speak to her while the car was driving. He seemed enraged. But as Shane was here, Anderson wouldn't do anything to her in front of him. He rarely acted so coldly toward her.

To break the silence, she took out a black gift box containing chocolates from her bag. The chocolates were wrapped in exquisite wrapping.

She took one of them out and asked, "Andy, do you want some chocolate?"

Before Anderson could respond, Mayra stuffed a chocolate into his closed palm. She unwrapped it and discovered that the chocolate was wrapped in gold. The outer layer was so thin that it broke when she held it.

She put it in her mouth, but then she realized it tasted off. The smell of wine was strong and overwhelming, but it gradually became sweeter and melted in her mouth.

"Why don't you try it? It tastes good."

He still didn't respond. Obviously, he was still angry at her. As an adult, she found it amusing that he needed a young girl to pacify him. She knew that her coaxing could always improve his mood.

In her previous life, no matter how defiant Mayra was, everything would be fine once she acted coquettishly toward him. Even though they weren't related by blood, he allowed her to do whatever she wanted.
