Chapter 34
Oceanus Restaurant was the only prix fixe restaurant in Xoss. Located on Serenity Street, it had a refreshing, elegant architectural style. The restaurant spanned 10,800 square feet, featuring beautiful surroundings and winding paths. Legend had it that it was once a private home passed down from a royal family member.
Despite lacking magnificent luxury decorations, the slightly shabby structure was attractive to patrons. Most importantly, the fantastic dishes attracted countless customers. Reservations needed to be made six months in advance, and even the Salvatore family was no exception. Additionally, the restaurant had a unique rule guests couldn’t choose their dishes. The menu was entirely random, yet every dish received high praise.
At that moment, in an old room there, Carlos’s and Mikayla’s families were having their first formal meeting.
“Mr. and Mrs. Ludwig,” said Mikayla, dressed casually but looking dignified and elegant.
“Mr. and Mrs. Salvatore” Carlos was modest and polite.
“Have a seat, Mr. Salvatore!” said Garrett, Carlos’s father, leading Jorge to sit at the head of the table.
“You’re too kind. Mr. Garrett Ludwig Thank you. Jorge replied.
“Sit he
there, Sylvia Selena Ludwig, Garrett’s wife, warmly greeted Sylvia. Selena was gentle and virtuous, always making others feel welcome
Rich families often played poker together socially. Selena and Sylvia were poker friends, though Selena spent most of her time caring for her daughter at home.
Carlos pulled out a chair for Mikayla and sat beside her once she was seated. Every movement Carlos made was elegant and graceful, enhanced by his high–end blue and black striped custom– made suit.
Before long, dishes began to arrive one after another.
Although Carrett and Jorge had never worked together, they’d met at parties and occasionally shared drinks. Today, both men were in especially good spirits.

Carlos refilled Jorge’s and Carrett’s glasses from time to time and also drank with them, all the while being considerate of Sylvia’s taste.
Mikayla watched quietly and couldn’t help but recall her dinners with the Lindstrom family. Their backgrounds are similar, but their upbringings. are so different. The Lindstroms would never have dinner with us like this. They always acted superior. Hugo and Queenie were never this friendly To my parents. I must have been blind to think they were nice, she reflected:
“What are you thinking about?” Carlos asked in a low, husky voice, the faint scent of wine on his breath pulling Mikayla from her thoughts. “Nothing! Just feeling a bit sentimental” she explained.
“You’ve lost some weight” Carlos placed a seared scallop on Mikayla’s plate with a serving spoon.
“It’s just about work. Don’t drink on an empty stomach, eat something.” She urged him and thought, ‘If I remember correctly, he hasn’t eaten anything since he sat down and has been attentive to the elders. Just at this point. Jaxon can’t even compare to Carlos. At most, he only cared for me” Later, she shook her head to dash off her immature comparison
“I might be able to help you with your work, Carlos said.
Mikayla looked up in surprise and saw him eating steak elegantly like a beautiful painting. The lights in the room cast a shadow on his handsome features, giving him a mysterious air.
“Up close, I have to say that Carlos is really handsome, but Garrett and Selena are quite average– looking, she mused, shocked by her own thoughts.
Til have Kashion send you something tomorrow. See if it helps Carlos added.
“You know what I need?” Mikayla asked, surprised. She had witnessed Carlos’s resourcefulness before, but she had only started working for two days, and he already knew the difficulties she faced. Does he have surveillance cameras around me!‘ she wondered. Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
As if reading her mind, Carlos explained, “I don’t want my bride to have dark circles under her eyes on our wedding day.”
