Chapter 160: At the night club
We were having lunch in the office when Luke suddenly received a call from his secretary. He excused himself for a while to take the call, so Dana and I were left at the table.
"Hmm... what do you think that call is about?" Curiosity kicked in Dana's head as she really had to kick my feet lightly under the table.
"I have no idea," I shrugged, shaking my head, and continued eating.
"Ohh... I think he suddenly has an urgent meeting today and he will have to go back to the office or somewhere for that meeting."
I stopped stuffing the crispy fried chicken into my mouth and stared at her in disbelief.novelbin
"Really? Are you now becoming a fortune teller?" I asked, laughing at her.
"Well, I just got the idea based on your boyfriend's expression." She gave me a shrug. "Come on, look at him and tell me based on his looks that he's not tensed. Tsk. Tsk. Look at his shoulders and then the frown on his forehead---"
"Oh, yeah, yeah, I know I can see him, but let's just ask him when he returned." I continued eating my chicken. Honestly, I have already sensed that his secretary called him for that reason. It's either he will have to go back to the office or he will have to go to their client's place. But since in my mind, I don't want to take it, I don't want to let him go, I just pushed it aside so I could continue eating without disappointment.
But everything that Dana had said and even all I was thinking was true because that's what Luke mentioned first as soon as he sat down next to me.
"Sam..."
"Hmm... yes?" I asked, not looking at him and pretending to be clueless about what he had to say.
And even Dana who was sitting in front of our seats pretended to be ignorant and bit again the previously empty chicken bone on her plate just to listen to what Luke had to say. I really wanted to laugh at her seeing how silly she looked at that moment, but hearing the seriousness in Luke's voice made that laugh in my throat shrink.
"Sweetheart, I'm sorry, but I have to go back to the office."
I held my breath for a few seconds as my mind screamed... -'Yeah, I already knew it!'-
"I have to prepare some documents for the out-of-town meeting."
"Out of the town meeting?" This time, I turned to him, but I did my best not to show disappointment in my voice.
"Yes, my team and I have to fly to Davao City this afternoon for the urgent meeting."
(Davao City, Southeastern Mindanao Island, Philippines.)
"Ahh... what time are you going there?"
"At 3 p.m," he answered briefly.
"Uhm... excuse me, I'm done eating. Sam, I'll go back to the counter," Dana smiled at me before walking towards the door. I know she only had to do it to give us time to talk.
"Okay, then, you have to go now!" I was about to get up but he grabbed my hand.
"Sam..."
"Hmm... why?"
"I'm sorry---"
"Why are you apologizing? You don't have to apologize," I shook my head as I stared at him.
"I'm sorry because I promised to take you out for a date today, but---"
"Hey, it's alright!" I cupped his cheek. "We still can continue our date the next day, besides, we have a lot of time and opportunity to do any kind of date in the future, don't we?" I asked with a wink which caused me to earn a tight hug from him. "Thank you for understanding, sweetheart, I love you."
I bit my lip as I hugged him tightly. And just like the previous time he mentioned those words, I didn't reciprocate it with the same words. Well, it's not that I couldn't but I'm just waiting for the perfect moment.
And since I didn't say it back, I just replied with a kiss. I cupped both his cheeks and kissed him on the lips. I didn't have to wait for any seconds as he kissed me back in an instant.
"I'll call you when I get there," he said right after ended our kiss.
"How many days are you going to stay there?"
"I don't know, I mean, I still have no idea. Maybe I can come back here tomorrow or the next day," he shrugged.
"Okay, don't forget to call me!" I playfully narrowed my eyes at him.
"I won't forget to call you," he shook his head and gave me a quick kiss on the lips.
"And don't forget me even for just a single second!"
"That's the last thing I would ever do in my life, to forget you. Argh! I will miss you so much again, for God's sake!"
I chuckled when he again pulled me into a hug. Well, the feeling is mutual.
The next day, since Luke already called and informed me that he couldn't fly back to Manila, I decided to go with Dana, Martha, Toni, and some of our employees to the bar to continue Martha's birthday celebration. Of course, I have also informed Luke about it and he just told me to take care and have fun with my friends.
"Girls, are you ready?" Dana screamed at top of the stairs as she asked us in the living room.
"Yes! We are now ready to slay and turn the club upside down!" Martha screamed too and we all laughed at the same time.
Caleb, like Luke, wasn't home as he too has a business trip in Dubai, so we all gathered at their house to get changed and get ready for the non-stop party.
"You know what, I admire your husbands because they are still allowing you to go to a nightclub and have girls bonding like this."
I straightened my seat when Martha mentioned the word husband, but I guess she noticed my reaction so...
"Oops! Don't worry, he is going to be your husband soon."
"Haha..." I just rolled my eyes when they laughed at me at the same time. "Come on, girls, we don't want to be late, do we?"
"Whoa! I missed this kind of fun!" Martha screamed right after drinking her shot of tequila that she didn't even bother sucking the lime afterward.
She then stood up, waving her hands in the air as she screamed again.
"Whoa! Thank you, Almighty God for giving me friends like them and of course for another year of existence!"
"Hey, babe, sit down, you might fall with what you are doing!" Her boyfriend, Toni stood up for her rescue.
But he ended up sitting back in his seat as he couldn't stop her from voicing out her happiness while we, Dana, me, and the rest of the group remained in our seats and enjoyed watching the scene in front of us.
"Oh, God, don't tell me you're already drunk, Martha?" Dana screamed as the music suddenly changed from pop to rock.
"What? Who says I'm drunk? Of course, not! I'm not drunk! Well, not yet," she then giggled which made me shake my head. "How many shots have you already taken?" I couldn't help but ask as soon as she went back to her seat.
"I've had six!"
"Oh, my!" I had the same shocked reaction as Dana.
"You've already had six shots? Jeez, I only had three!" It was Dana.
"I had two!" I said after Dana.
"Whoa! Whoa! Wow!" Martha looked at us one by one. "You cheated on me!" "What?"
"You made me drink the whole bottle of tequila!"
"Haha! We didn't ask you to take all the shots!" I replied, laughing at her state.
"Babe, wait for me here, I'll just get some lemon slices." Toni patted her on the shoulder before heading toward the counter. And we all frowned in confusion as she sighed when her boyfriend was gone for a while. "So, what happened to your date and celebration yesterday?" I asked, taking my glass of alcohol in front of me.
"Hmmp! Nothing happened and I was very disappointed!" She sulked which made Dana and I exchanged glances before bombarding her with questions.
"And why? I mean, why are you disappointed?" Dana started the question.
"What do you mean by nothing happened? I thought he had a surprise for you?" And I asked her too.
"Yes, but that's just it! He didn't even touch me! I wanted him to give me something more than just kisses and hugs!"
"What exactly do you want him to give you?" I played dumb, even though I already have an idea of what she was referring to.
"I wanted him to touch me! I wanted to feel him! I wanted him to take me---"
"Oh, for God's sake, Martha, stop it!"
