Chapter 15
Madelyn Hudson gave Devin a dirty look, anger written all over her face,
A maid stumbled in, out of breath and close to crying. "Mr. Brady, I'm so sorry, Madelyn just barged past me; I couldn't stop her..
"Calm down, it's not on you. You can go Trevon said with a chill in his voice.
The maid nodded and quickly left.
"See, Devin' Trevon wanted me here," Madelyn sneered at the butler. Devin, always poised and proper, just grimaced and turned away, choking a little on her thick perfume. Meanwhile, Selina got up smoothly from her seat. "You have a guest. I'll let you guys chat then?
That's when Madelyn noticed Selina. She saw Selina's pretty face glowing under the bright lights of the dining room and felt really jealous and threatened. Her eyes then zoomed in on Selina's plain outfit, which looked like it was bought for a few bucks from a street seller. She jabbed her finger at Selina and snapped. "Who are you! Why are you here in Trevon's place!"
Selina was about to answer when Treven stepped in Madelyn, show some respect. She's my wife, for real
"What?" Madelyn looked like she'd been slapped, shaking as she gaped at Selina. "Trevon, why am I the last to know?" She seemed on the verge ofNôvelDrama.Org © content.
"Now y
you know. And go spread the word to your family too. Save me the trouble. Trevon said, not caring a bat, Madelyn was fuming but speechless.
Selina expected drama from the get-go with the whole marriage deal. Unfazed by Madelyn's diy look, Selina just said. "Whatever." and walked off She needed some downtime-after all, she was only two days into this new life, free from her old toxic family. And this new body was way better than the tired one she had before, after years of being pushed around by the Harvey family in her past life. This body felt almost new to her.
But Madelyn wasn't letting her zo. She stomped up to Selina, hands on her hips, her eyes filled with anger.
"What do you want now?" wandered Selina
Madelyn poused, I want the truth! What dirty tricks did you pull to have Trevon marry you!"
"Why not just chalk it up to love? If Trevon were so weak, he wouldn't have been running his family business."
"No way would he fall for you... You think you can go from zero to hero? Stop dreaming. Just look at your cheap outfit."
Madelyn's comments were classic-like she stepped right out of some cheesy TV series. Selina smirked. "You might want to ease up on the drama shows, huh!" Madelyn was just like those wannabe innocents, all scheming underneath. And Selina was done playing their game,
"You - You've got some nerve!" Madelyn was ready to explode. "You're so rude! How on earth could Trevon be into someone as low-class as you? Wait until I tell him that a woman with zero manners like you just doesn't cut it for...
Selina cut her off mid-rant, grabbing Madelyn's cheek in a tight squeeze. Madelyn's eyes watered from the hurt while she squirmed, her words jumbled. "What the heck!"
Although only slightly taller and seemingly slender, Selina was surprisingly strong.
"Listen and listen good." Selina rightened her grip and continued, Tm Trevon's wife-legally bound and fully documented. Got it! I don't care what kind of crush you have on him; he's off-limits. If you come at me again. I won't be so nice. Selina shoved Madelyn hard, making her stagger and nearly trip over her own feet. As a final touch, Selina nudged Madelyn's behind with her foot sending her toppling to the floor gracelessly. "Ah!" Madelyn screeched.
Shaking off her hands, Selina left Madelyn on the floor, wailing like a banshee: "Trevon! Help! She's trying to murder met
Selina went straight to the villa's workout room to hit the weights and mass. There was something empowering about getting back into her fitness
routine.
Unseen at first, Trevon stood at the gym's entrance, quietly observing Selina's routine-every stretch and move was precise and fluid.
When she finished and caught sight of Trevon, Selina asked, "Did your nutjob cousin finally leave?"
"Yeah, I had her escorted out," said Trevon
Selina grabbed a towel to wipe the sweat from her brow, "About time"
"I wanted you to see what you're marrying into. My family's got their quirks, but for some reason, they're good to me. I can't be too harsh with them yet you can. Keep them in line, just don't go overboard"
Selina thought about what she learned about Trevon. He wasn't like those tough business guys who'd do anything to win, even tricking their own family. Trevon's story was different. His mom and dad split up, and Madelyn was related to Trevon through his real mom. His dad remarried and had another girl. Even though Trevon's real mom also got married again, she still had a pretty complicated but good relationship with him.
So deep in thought, Selina didn't catch Trevon stepping closer.
"If it gets to be 100 much, I've got your back," he said, his deep voice cutting through the silence. She looked up into his eyes, and for a moment, his presence was almost imposing
She couldn't deny Trevon's appeal-the man was a heartthrob. It wasn't just his looks. There was a certain grace to him that was almost innate, in every simple movement he made. And his cologne! Surprisingly subtle and agreeable, making her less guarded around him. Selina caught her lower lip between her teeth. "Don't go overboard! Got it. I'll handle it and stick to our year-long deal.
Trevon uttered, "Selina, you've got skills, and... remember, in front of everyone else, it's honey or "Trevon. We're in this charade together, and we might as well play our parts to the hilt." SEKO GET
