My Formidable Husband

Chapter 106 Extortion

The man in sunglasses flushed red and gazed at Christopher with horror. Christopher’s brute strength

to lift him off the ground with one hand was terrifying to behold. “Put me down at once, or Andreas will

hear of this and have the Murrays all buried together!” he shouted.

“How dare you!”

Christopher subdued the man within seconds in a flurry of swipes. Blood poured freely out of the

gangster’s mouth, and one of his teeth had been knocked out.

Though a tough gangster on any other day, the man had his defiance slapped out of him. Being only an

errand boy, he would not have shown himself if not for Christopher’s ordinary appearance and

unsophisticated fashion sense.

“Stop hitting me,” he croaked at last. “I’ll take you to him.”

The gangster appeared to be begging for mercy, but he was cursing Christopher in his heart. We’ll see

what happens when Andreas gets a hold of you, boy. He will break your limbs for having dared lay your

hands on me!

Christopher did not know what his prisoner was thinking, nor did he care.

He just needed the gangster to take him to Andreas.

After being dropped to the ground by Christopher, the man stumbled to his feet and met Christopher’s

expressionless face with a simper on his own. The latter merely pointed ahead, prompting the former to

begin walking hastily.

Christopher got in the passenger seat of his prisoner’s Santana. “You’d better not pull any funny

business with me,” he warned, “or you’ll wish you were never born.”

The gangster merely gave an apologetic smile and began driving quickly.

His boss, Andreas Corden, was the owner of a casino. “Andreas is on the second floor,” the man in

sunglasses announced when they pulled up. “There is a rest area for employees. Andreas should be

taking a break. I will bring you to him.”

He was about to unfasten his seat belt when Christopher said coldly, “I’ll look for him on my own.”

Without giving him a chance to respond, Christopher hit the man with sunglasses on the neck and sent

him slumped in his seat. He then got out of the car and headed straight to the second floor.

The establishment spanned a vast area. A bar, opened only at night, occupied the ground floor. In

preparation for business later that night, the crew was scrubbing at the time of Christopher’s arrival.

The waiters guessed he was there to apply for the position of security staff. After all, people like

Christopher were abundantly employed at the bar.

“You’re here for the bouncer position, aren’t you?” One of them gestured him upstairs. “Up to the

second floor, turn right, and you’ll see him!”

“Thanks!”

Christopher smiled politely and went as the waiter directed. Instead of applying for the security position

as he was assumed to, he was on his way to question Andreas’ authority to demand a protection fee

from the Murrays.

And to demand half a million from a proper company right off the bat! Are codes of honor of the

underworld in Jadeborough even followed anymore? If there aren’t any left to uphold, I don’t mind

showing them again.

At this moment, Andreas was drinking beer with his men and having a boisterous dinner in the lounge

on the second floor.

“I went to the company called Julianna Corporation today to collect protection fees, Andreas,” a thickset

man reported with a smile.

“Don’t bother me about such trivial matters as collecting protection fees, Cannon,” Andreas said with a

disdainful snort.

“The protection fee is a trivial matter, yes,” Cannon agreed. “But what’s important is the daughter of the

boss. She’s a beauty, all right. Look, I even secretly took some photos. Look at her, Andreas. Pretty,

huh? No man can be immune to her charms!”

Cannon took out his phone and handed it to Andreas. The rest gathered around.

“Don’t bother. She must be an ugly wench!”

Andreas never had much faith in Cannon’s taste. He thought it would be a poor specimen, as was

usual with his proclivities. However, he leaped to his feet excitedly after taking one look at Julianna’s

photo. “D*mn, why didn’t you say so earlier? She’s such a beautiful woman. I must have her.”

“Don’t worry, Andreas,” Cannon said with a smile. ”I have already made some inquiries after them.

Their family has no influence or history, so I asked for half a million. If they can’t put that amount

together in time, we’ll have her as collateral!”

“The stakes are high either way.” Andreas cackled with relish.

“This woman is Julianna Murray,” Cannon went on, “and her husband appears to be a veteran called

Christopher Yaeger. That was why I didn’t force her over before, as it might have caused trouble.

Besides, the police came again, so we had to scatter.” This material belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

“So what?” Andreas said scornfully. “Don’t we have two ex-soldiers working as security in our

establishment? They bow and fawn over me all the same!”

“You’re right,” Cannon murmured apologetically. “I was too careful.”

“Bring some men over this afternoon, Cannon. Bring the soldier here, then tell the woman that—”
