Chapter 1
Married to the Boss: A Love in Disguise Chapter 1
Red Pine City was in the south. Today, the scorching summer sun seemed able to bake the street.
After asking for half a day’s leave from her leader, Lumma Louis picked up the bag, walked out of the company, and took a taxi straight to the County Clerks’ Office in Mebrork District.
Lumma knew that her grandmother had always been brooding over what had happened three years ago, thinking that she didn’t protect her well, which led to her reputation being ruined, and she could not return home.
And her grandmother was worried that she was too old to take care of Lumma, so she asked Catherine Bergman in Red Pine City to introduce Lumma to a potential husband, and Catherine happened to have an unmarried grandson.
The older generation thought that the best ending for a girl was to get married. No matter what kind of person she married, it was fine as long as she could get married.
After experiencing such a thing three years ago and seeing too many cases of getting divorced around her, Lumma had no expectations for marriage.
Lumma thought that if she met someone suitable, she would get married, but if she didn’t, it was okay to be single for the rest of her life.
However, in order to reassure her grandmother, she still agreed to marry Catherine’s grandson.
Soon after, Lumma arrived at her destination. As soon as she got out of the car, she saw a tall man standing at the entrance of the registration hall.
The man was wearing an ordinary white shirt and black trousers, but his image was so dazzling that all the women passing by secretly glanced at him.
He was making a phone call absorbed.
Lumma took out her phone and found the picture her grandmother had sent her. This man should be the one in the photo, but he looked even more handsome in person than in the picture.
Lumma walked towards him, and as she approached, the man put away his phone and looked at her.
“Are you Lumma Louis?”
He not only looked handsome but also had a great voice.
Lumma nodded and asked, “Are you Lucas Bergman?”
Lucas nodded and turned to walk towards the hall.
Lucas had long legs and walked fast, so Lumma had to run a little to keep up. She said, “Hey, do you need to think about it again?”
Lucas stopped and looked at his watch. “Do you have any concerns?”
Lumma wanted to ask if Lucas knew about her past.
Did Lucas know about her past?
However, Lumma realized Lucas should be the same as her. They both chose to marry under the pressure of their elders. They got married wasn’t out of love, so there was no need to know each other.
Just like her, Lumma only knew that Lucas was Catherine’s grandson, but she didn’t even know what he did for a living.
Lumma shook her head lightly and said, “Then let’s go.”
There were only a few people applying for marriage today, so they quickly completed the process. Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
Looking at the newly printed marriage certificate, Lumma was still in a trance. Lucas handed her a bank card and said, “I’ve been very busy recently, so I don’t have time to accompany you for the time being. Take this card. The password is 666666. You can spend as much money as you want on this card.”
Lumma was taken aback for a moment. By the time she came to her senses, Lucas had already sat in the business car on the side of the road and left.
Lumma looked at the bank card in her hand and suddenly felt a little overwhelmed.
She worked in the branch of the Hills Group and opened a comic studio with her childhood friend. She earned a lot of money every month, so she could live a good life, and she never thought about spending a man’s money.
Her ideal loveless marriage was to get married to appease their elders and then live life as usual
without interfering with each other.
But if Lucas was willing to live a good life with her, she would also try hard to maintain this marriage.
After thinking it through, Lumma took a picture of the marriage certificate and sent it to her grandmother: [Grandma, we got our marriage certificate.]
Her grandmother quickly replied with a voice message, “Okay, from now on, you should live a good life with him and have a baby as soon as possible.”
[Okay.] Lumma replied. After putting away her phone, she felt depressed.
This was how society worked. Being single was pressured to get married, and after getting married, pressured to have children. Girls seemed to have no right to their own lives.
They were married, but she didn’t feel married.
After getting the marriage license, Lucas never contacted Lumma again. Lumma’s life didn’t change at all, and she continued to work day and night tirelessly.
A year passed in the blink of an eye, and it was now the hottest season of the year.
In the past year, because of Lumma’s outstanding performance at work, she was transferred to the secretary’s office of the Hills Group headquarters.
The president of the Hills Group, Adam Hills, returned from abroad today after being away for a year. Everyone in the company was nervous, especially people like Lumma, who might be assigned to work alongside the president.
Just as everyone in the president’s office was waiting eagerly, the door of the president’s private elevator opened, and two men and a woman walked out.
The man in the lead wore a pair of silver-rimmed glasses. He was over 5 feet tall, had a great figure, and was very handsome.
Feeling a little familiar, Lumma couldn’t help but take a few more glances at him.
“Lumma, that’s our president, Mr. Hills.” Her colleague, Luna Fox, whispered in Lumma’s ear, “There was a girl in our secretarial department who want to hook up with Mr. Hills before and got fired.”
Lumma had only been at the headquarters for less than a year and had never seen the president before. She knew that he was less than 28 years old but didn’t expect him to have such a perfect body
and looks.
Lumma felt embarrassed and was about to explain, but unexpectedly, she heard a cold sneer behind her. “Don’t waste time with your wishful thinking.
It was John who spoke. After his pursuit of Lumma had been rejected, he often caused trouble for Lumma at work.
Lumma had never fantasized about anything unrealistic. She couldn’t be bothered to pay attention to such a petty person who was making trouble out of nothing.
However, John thought he guessed Lumma’s thoughts correctly and continued to be sarcastic, “Women nowadays are all ambitious. They want to marry into rich and powerful families with just a little beauty.”
“What do you mean by marrying into a rich and powerful family?” The president’s special assistant, Jane Shelton, came over and glanced at the three of them coldly. “Lumma, Luna, and John, you should come with me to the president’s office.”
Jane was a company veteran who had worked for the previous president and had worked for Adam for many years. She would be transferred to the sub-company and needed to find someone to take over her position.
Lumma, Luna, and John were the best among the more than 20 people after multiple rounds of interviews. The president would choose one of them to replace Jane.
They came to the president’s office. The decoration was simple and elegant, and the floor-to-ceiling window could overlook half of Red Pine City.
Mr. Hills wore a white shirt and black trousers and stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows in a straight and elegant posture.
“Mr. Hills, everyone is here,” Jane respectfully said.
The man looked back at them. He didn’t do anything, but his aura was so strong that no one dared to look up at him.
John plucked up his courage and took a step forward. “Mr. Hills, my name is John. I’ve been working in the president’s office for five years. My uncle, James Lynn, also asked me to say hello to you on his behalf…”
Lucas glanced at John. There was no change in his expression, but those who knew him well knew that he didn’t like this kind of person who was relying on the relationship.
Lucas looked at Luna, who immediately held her head high and said, “Mr. Hills, my name is Luna. I’ve been working in the president’s office for three years.”
Luna tried her best to appear more confident, but her trembling voice revealed her nervousness.
Finally, the man looked at Lumma, and Lumma was looking at him too.
This time, they were closer, and Lumma had a clearer view of the man’s perfect face.
For some reason, Lumma felt that she had seen him somewhere before.
