Redmption 35
Redmption 35
Hearing the call, I tossed my phone aside and replied, “Coming.”
With that, I kicked off my shoes and shuffled to the door in my slippers. As soon as I opened it, I saw Brandon filling up water in the courtyard.
There were several white buckets lining up. Once they were full, he effortlessly lifted them. His muscles were visible even through his shirt. It exuded both strength and power.
“Why are you filling so many buckets? Are we expecting a water cut?” I asked as I walked over.
Kelly glanced at me disapprovingly, silently scolding me with her eyes for my casual slippers.
Brandon didn’t answer, but Kelly replied, “It’s just in case there’s one.”
She then patted Brandon and said, “Tonight, I’ll make chicken soup. The two of you should go and buy a couple of chickens for me. Make sure they’re free- range. Get some cilantro and green onions as well.
This was clearly an excuse to get us out to talk. But considering my oversized slippers, it was indeed a bit inappropriate. However, going back to change them would make things even more awkward.
“Go and change your shoes,” Brandon said.
It would feel even more embarrassing to change shoes now. I chuckled. “It’s
fine.” NôvelDrama.Org owns this.
Brandon didn’t say anything else and started walking out.
Kelly winked at me, urging me to follow him, before shouting after him,” Brandon, wait for Maddie.”
I shuffled out in my slippers. They were comfortable but admittedly not suitable for the occasion/
We hadn’t walked far when Brandon suddenly stopped and asked, “I heard that you want to date me?”
I was speechless.

Did Kelly really say it like that? This guy sure was direct.
“What’s wrong? You don’t want to?” I looked at him, taking this chance to scrutinize him properly for the first time. His features were sharp, with deep- set eyes and well–defined brows. His lips were neither too thin nor too thick.
He had a handsome face, even more so than Chris‘. And he was slightly darker
than Chris too.
People said not to judge a book by its cover. But who wouldn’t look at
someone’s face when meeting them for the first time? It wasn’t like we could strip them to check out their body, right?
“I’m 31. I served in the military for eight years. Now, I’m…” Brandon began to introduce himself when someone interrupted him.
“Brandon!” A boy who looked 17 or 18 called out. He even whistled and glanced at me twice.
“Is the taxi yours?” I asked after the boy walked away.
“No. It’s a friend’s,” he answered, implying he was working with a friend who, owned the taxi.
“Do you have a thing for widows?” My question was blunt.
Brandon’s expression darkened. “No.”
“Do you think you will, in the future?” Asking this made me realize I had developed a trauma over such matters. I was actually quite sensitive and fragile, but no one saw that.
“No,” he replied succinctly.
I smiled, “I’m 24. I just ended a relationship that had almost led to a marriage. My parents are deceased, and I have no intention of dating again anytime soon.
I made my intentions clear. Kelly’s suggestion for me to try getting into a relationship with Brandon was just a spur–of–the–moment comment. I didn’t plan on dating again, let alone through a blind date with a stranger.
Brandon looked down at me without saying a word.
Thinking he understood, I prepared to turn around.

“Then, how about marriage?” His words shocked me, and I looked at him int
surprise.
Brandon stood up straight, and his eyes met mine. He repeated, “Getting married and registering for marriage…”
