Love At Last

Chapter 148 – I don’t have a sister.

Lily

I was feeling really frustrated by everything and the fact that Cayden wasn’t answering all my questions was so painful for me.

I asked him about the baby and he didn’t say anything. His silence was telling me that he was feeling guilty about what he did and he just couldn’t accept his mistake and move on.

Instead, he was ignoring me and going what he likes. Why can’t he see that I am hurting so bad? Why can’t he see that I want him to grab my face and tell me that it’s just lies?

Why?

I told him that he was being quiet because he was guilty and he still didn’t say anything. I was feeling really hurt and I didn’t know when I started crying.

Even with the way I was crying, he didn’t come to me and hug me.

“Wow, Cayden. Wow. I’m really sure that I was correct after all. You’re feeling guilty, that’s why you can’t even hold eye contact with me for more than three seconds. You’re being wicked right now.” I said and I moved closer to him when he didn’t say anything while I waited for him to say something.

He raised his head and he saw that I was crying. He didn’t say anything and I continued talking. “You told me that you loved me, Cayden. You really did and I trusted you. Oh God, I was so dumb enough to believe that you actually loved me.”

My voice was breaking now, but I was determined to speak sense into him.

“You didn’t love me and you still don’t. You were just using me for my body and all. Cayden!” I screamed at him and he instantly started packing.

He was packing to run away from the truth and everything. He’s a coward, a coward is what he is.

I told him that I was leaving his life forever and he tried stopping me, but I slipped out of his hold and I ran home, not looking back at him for the last time.

Cayden

I was taken aback by what she said and I was really surprised. I wondered what she was talking to her and I was suddenly interested in everything that she had to say.

“What do you mean? I want to know everything.” I said to her and she had a small smile on her face. She invited me in and I hesitated before I told her to lead the way into the house.

I silently closed the door after I went in. The house was almost in the same shape since I got it for her. That’s impressive?

I pushed the thoughts of the house aside and I decided to concentrate on the important information that I was getting from her.

“I’m all ears.” I said to her when I was comfortable in the living room. She gulped before she started speaking again.

She started yelling at me about how a ‘strange’ woman suddenly came to her house and told her how she had been looking for her for a while. She took a dramatic pause and she told me that the woman that went to her, told her that she was my sister and she told her that I had shared the news with the whole family.

I stretched my hand out to stop her from saying any other word. I just wanted to clear everything up in my head.

So, a woman came and she claimed to be my sister? And she said that I had shared the news with the family? I wanted to ask her what news she was talking about, but she probably knew the news already.

She continued by saying that the strange woman who was claiming to be his sister was really happy to let her into the family and she was representing me too.

When she said that, I widened my eyes at her. I couldn’t remember sending anyone to her to ‘represent me. That’s a very big lie. I didn’t even send someone to tell her anything, talk more of someone that’s claiming to be my sister.

“I was really happy because that was what I wanted. She even told me that she came to me because you were ready to get married to me and you were really excited about it. She said and I could hear a small excitement in her voice.

Who on earth was pranking this woman for God’s sake?

I looked at her and I wanted to tell her that I don’t even have a sister, but I decided to wait for her to finish speaking before I pop her fantasy bubble.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.

“She told me that the wedding was going to take place, as long as I was ready to keep my mouth shut and because of the fact that I wanted to get married to you, I agreed.” She said and she threw a smile at me. I didn’t return it.

Even if someone like that actually went to her, I think she would have at least informed me about it. Right? That would have been the right thing to do at that moment.

“Why did you not call me immediately after she talked to you?” I asked her and I saw that she shrugged subconsciously.

“I actually wanted to, but your sister told me that I wasn’t allowed to communicate with you for any reason because you were so busy and always on ‘long’ calls, business trips and meetings. She even said that that was why she made all the preparations and arrangements because you were always in meetings and by the time you were through with them, you’d be too tired to even talk to anyone.” She said and I just glared at her in awe.

Business trips? Long calls? Meetings? Where were all these coming from? Wow.

If she called the strange woman my sister one more time, then I might lose my cool, to be honest.

I was suddenly feeling weird like the earth shifted for a second. This whole issue was getting deeper than I actually wanted it to. I thought it was something that I could just solve by myself with no help, but now? I’m not so sure about that.

I was feeling really dizzy like I was about to pass out and I shifted in my chair uncomfortably. I was about to fall out of the chair, when she came to me to help me. She asked me if I was okay and I looked at her for a while before I decided to answer her.

She really deserves to know what trouble she had put herself in.

When I was okay and balanced enough to talk, I said, “the lady you claim is my sister, is not my sister. In Fact, I don’t have any sister.”

When I said that, I saw that it was her turn to pass out now.
