Part 12
Zoe had thought that with what she had let out would make him back off. She had thought he was going to feel hurt and leave but she still turned to notice him following her. She turned around to say something but ended up facing him very close.
”Considering the way we met, I don’t think it would be possible for us to be friends.” she said while putting her hand on her h**s. ”What, why is that? Oh you mean because we kissed?” He asked with an expression that was hard to detect.
She stared at him as she noticed how beautiful his blue eyes were. ”Come on Zoe, that’s more reason we should be friends, all pressure is supposed to be totally off since we made out.” Alex said with seriousness.
It felt really weird inside Zoe’s tummy seeing the way he stared at her and was clearly forcing himself to be friend of hers. Zoe hissed making sure nobody who bullied or picked on her was around them.
She turned to notice a smile plastered on his well-created face, all that he knew best was how to smile and nothing else. Not that she disputed him smiling but his smiles were just too gorgeous.
”Zoe, I once lived in a human world before I came back to the world I belong to. a lot of people go to parties and get to play seven minutes in heaven, it’s no big deal. Trust me!” Alex said with another shrug.
It felt like he was trying to calm her down, she looked up at him as he continued what he was saying. ”So, Zoe, stop killing yourself over nothing, and let’s be friends.” He said as he held out his hand for a friendly gesture.
”Why do you want us to be friends so badly?” she asked.
He used his hands to cross his heart in an x way before saying. “I’m not entirely sure but there is something about you I guess.” This time around what he said made Zoe blush.
”Anyway, friends.” He said, stretching his hand further. It was definitely hard to refuse those eyes. She hesitantly put her hands in his as he grinned.
”Fine, I would consider being your friend but until I make up my mind fully you have to give me some space.” she said, trying to sound really serious. ”Okay, I won’t bug you, take all the space you need.” Alex said.
”Meanwhile, I asked Bella Williams out. I realized she was your friend! I hope you are okay with that?” he said before walking away. Zoe stared at the path he just followed looking perplexed, was he doing this to piss her off? what the hell.
Zoe tried to be calm and not to act weirdly close to Bella. She did nothing wrong! Alex was just too charming and he was trying to charm her into being his girlfriend. Zoe thought before using the restroom.
After school, she had her shift at the bakery where she worked. As she rode on her bicycle to the store all she could think about was Alex asking Bella out.
Zoe wondered why he f*****g asked her out? If Alex had liked Bella since the day she came to their school, he shouldn’t have played such a game with her. This was totally complicated! Zoe thought.
“Why do I even care?” she scoffed.
Zoe was so caught up in her thought that she almost ran over a stop sign, causing two cars to beep and flash their disgusting hand gesture in her direction.
She held her hand over her beating chest waiting for her heart to calm down before heading in the direction of the bakery. Tuesdays at the bakery aren’t stressful! Unlike Mondays. She parked her bicycle as she pushed the door to enter the bakery.
She was stunned to notice Luke seating at the vacant seat at the end of the bakery. She quickly strolled to the storeroom not to be seen. “Why do I keep avoiding Luke? Not like he offended me,” Zoe muttered to herself as she quickly changed.
She walked out of the storeroom to notice Mr. Peterson.” We have a customer,” he said, pointing in the direction of Luke.
”Yes, we do.” Zoe said, sounding really weird. ”Go get his order,” Mr. Peterson ordered. Zoe nodded before dragging herself to the table where Luke sat, he was so engulfed in his phone to even notice her presence.
”Hey,” she said, staring at the menu. He turned to stare at her, giving her chills in her body. ”You can sit, I’m not hungry?” Luke said.
”I have work to do?” Zoe said firmly. ”I’m going to buy your work hours with you,” he said, staring into her eyes. She tried to stand up so she could notify Mr. Peterson but it seems Luke had read her mind. ”Mr. Peterson already knows I want to talk to you.” He said, staring at her.
She took the empty seat opposite him as she gazed down at her lap. ”I have been bothered since the day we kissed in the storeroom and..” Luke tried to go on but she interrupted.
”Luke?” She said, staring up to catch his gaze on her. ”I think I should finish what I was going to say?” he said, staring at her. ”I don’t know why you avoided me but I have something to say,” he said, waiting for her to say something if she had to.
I guess he knew she had nothing to say so he basically continued. ”I think I like you, Zoe!” Luke confessed. Zoe could see the whole bakery swiveling everywhere. Her heart was beating very fast from his little confession.
Her mouth was left open because of the shock she felt. ”I really mean what I have just said Zoe,” Luke went further.
This was the first time a guy had told her they liked her and to say that the same guy was actually her first k**s was something extraordinary. She thought of how dad and Lilian would react after finding out? They might really go against it.
”Are you probably thinking of what your dad and my mum would say?” He asked. ”Yeah, probably.” she replied. This content is © NôvelDrama.Org.
”Well, I asked them first before asking you?” He said leaving her mouth open in shock. He really went this far just because he liked her? She could feel herself blushing.
”So, would you go out with me Zoe?” He asked, looking at her. ”Yes Luke, I would be your girlfriend.” She said feeling her face heat up and go red as tomatoes.
Luke stood up from his chair as he bends lower to her face to k**s her perhaps, and just like we all had taught, their lips joined together giving him the room to k**s her hotly. He pulled away and murmured the three words no guy had ever said to Zoe.
“I love you, Zoe?” Luke said.
